I have never done a studio session with a male model. (well maybe one exception). I didn't really know what to do to the file once I had it on my computer. With a female you removed all blemishes and add some skin smoothing. This file didn't look fantastic unprocessed.
I used the green channel to create a mask and used that with curves to increase contrast. I used another blue channel to create contrast in the blue jeans. The result is the picture you are now looking at. Also able to recreate an process a similar batch in minutes. Makes a nice change from spending a long time on each picture.

Nice shot! Lighting is good. Perhaps lights could be a bit harder (is in general OK for men).
nathan hulse: Hi Paul. I agree with you on this. I should have put the light closer to him. Lesson learnt for next time. I struggled to get a satisfactory contrast in PS
